Life At 40

Life At 40

Most people believe that life begins at 40. While I am not sure about the origin of this concept, I would like to think that it is due to the fact that most individuals have achieved the goals that they set in their younger age and have settled down to raise their families. I envision my forties to be an era of prosperity and gratification out of the achievements of my youth.

Before getting to the fourth decade of my life, I intend to be in a successful profession following my hard work in college. After completing four fruitful years of undergraduate studies at the New York University, I will start my own practice as a psychologist. As a lifelong dream, I believe that being a psychologist will allow me to assist all those that are dealing with difficult issues in their lives. Through this profession, I know that I will be able to make a change in the world, one person at a time. However, I would also be serving a huge loan of $100,000.00 that I took to facilitate my graduate studies. I will begin by repaying the loan in small, affordable amounts of $1000.00 per month before gradually increasing the amount based on the success of my practice and the revenue from an intimate Italian restaurant that I plan to open in my mid-30s.

I have always admired to live in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This will be my ultimate destination where I will raise my family. Being one of the most posh areas in New York, I recognize that finding a residential house will be quite expensive. Therefore, I expect to take a sizeable mortgage of about $800,000.00 that will cater for the purchase of a comfortable home for my family. By then, I expect that I will be married to the love of my life whom I will meet in college and I will have two beautiful children with. I want a happy and long-lasting marriage, which is why I am will only get married to my best friend that I enjoy spending time together (Antoniades).

Once I turn 40, I want to be at the height of my life. At this age, my house should be homely with my kids running all over the place. I long for a time when I would be sitting at the pouch sipping a cup of my favorite mint tea while a tantalizing waft of freshly baked goods wafts from the kitchen. I cannot wait to spend the cold winter in front of the fireplace in my living room trading stories with my wife and children. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing that I want to see is a smile on my wife’s face against the beautiful rays of sunlight creeping in through our bedroom window. After my morning run or a short workout in the gym, I will put on my crisp suit and kiss my wife and children goodbye before heading for work. My Mercedes will be my only means of transport to work, which will be thirty minutes away from my house. I will make sure that I call my wife every afternoon to check on how she is doing and how the restaurant business is fairing.

At the end of each day, I will go back home to my loving family. I will be content with everything that I will have while seeking to leave enough inheritance for my children. While I will still be working at growing my practice, I want my forties to be the most successful stage of my life
